Teladoc was born while flight surgeon G. Byron Brooks, MD and serial entrepreneur Michael Gorton were climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. The idea was clearly a great one, but the path from concept to the world’s largest telemedicine company and $9B NYSE entity was long and difficult.
